Reubyn Ash Hits Top Spot

27th April 2009 Reubyn Ash finds himself at the top of the MyProSurfer.co.uk leaderboard for the first time this year. This follows a recent cover shot and a 12-page feature in the May issue of Wavelength.

For many, Reubyn has been regarded as the hope of UK surfing for a number of years and is technically one of the best UK surfers in the country. Alongside this he has made his mark on the contest scene, both at a junior level, and more recently in his WCT wildcard battle with Kelly Slater at Mundaka.

His latest cover shot was snapped by surf photographer Roger Sharp whilst out in Indo. As a result, Sharpy has risen into the top ten of the photographer leaderboard, but remains just outside the number 5 spot which is currently held by Jason Feast.

Alan Stokes is the month's biggest mover with a launch up to 10th. Toby Atkins also received some magazine amnesty picking up 195 points, something that has been difficult to come by recently due to issues surrounding payments from his former sponsor.

Whilst Reubyn Ash remains 10 points clear at the top, second-place Fergal Smith will be hoping that the May edition of Carve will offer him as much coverage as it has the previous two months. Also, it must be remembered that we are still awaiting a back issue of Pitpilot to tabulate.

Anything can happen over the next couple of weeks.
